Compassion International
Compassion International is one of the world’s largest Christian child-development organizations, working with more than 65 denominations and more than 4,000 indigenous church partners in 24 countries in Africa, Asia, the Caribbean, Central and South American. Through one-on-one sponsorships, Compassion reaches out to those trapped in desperate poverty by providing education, nutrition and an opportunity to respond to the Gospel of Jesus Christ. Compassion is currently providing assistance to more than 800,000 children.
Since 1952, Compassion has touched the lives of more than 1.6 million children and has been recognized for its financial integrity with top ratings and recommendations by several of the nations leading not-for-profit “watchdog” organizations. Compassion guarantees that a minimum of 80% of the sponsor’s money will benefit their sponsored child. Many Oakdale Emory members are sponsors and find it a truly fulfilling way to reach out in Jesus’ name. Joyful Noise! performs concerts in the spring and summer for the benefit of Compassion through which they have raised over one million dollars to help children in poverty.
