ShepherdingWhen new members join the church, they are assigned a shepherd, an existing member, who will help guide them into the active life of Oakdale Emory—helping them to join groups of their interest, inviting them to events, meeting at coffee hour, befriending them, answering questions, etc. The shepherd guides the new member until the next new member class, but is available as a continuing resource person. It is hoped the new member will then consider serving as a shepherd for the next new member class.
